The Pind Daan and Tarpan of forefathers:

In Hindu tradition, it is the duty of every human to perform Pind Daan – Tarpan for forefathers. In Badrinath, people perform Tarpan for their forefathers at Brahmakapal  teerth. The people not only from India but also from Nepal and other countries come here in Badrinath to perform this sacred ritual. Traditionally, this ritual of Pind Daan and Tarpan is performed after the darshan of  Badrivishal.

At present the Pind Daan and Tarpan is being performed at Brahmakapal teerth located near Alaknanda. As per Hindu sacred texts  and books, one does not need to perform Pind Daan – Tarpan anywhere after performing here at Brahmakapal in Badrinath.
