Mussoorie Winter Carnival: On 25th December, the Mussoorie Winter Carnival started with big fanfare. It got started with amazing traditional cultural programs. Honorable Chief Minister Mr. Harish Rawat inaugurated the Carnival. After the inauguration he also watched Dangal Movie and made it tax free in Uttarakhand State.
During the inauguration, Mr. Rawat announced that he wants to do branding of the Uttarakhand native cereals like Koda, jhingora, and chaulai in the European countries which will make Uttarakhand famous globally. As per the traditional carnival routine, there was cultural parade from Landour Market to library Chowk. There were mesmerizing displays in this parade.
Drizzling and freezing cold with these beautiful displays filled the hearts of tourist with extreme delight. There were cheerful faces everywhere. The tourist also performed dance with the folk artists of Uttarakhand. In the display, the artists from different places including Janpur, Jaunsar and team of cultural department performed.
In the evening, the very famous Jagar (local form of singing) singer Pritam Bharatvan started his performance. His performance was amazing and all the people enjoyed that.
Every year such festivals and carnivals are held in Mussoorie and many visitors come to witness and enjoy the festive mood. These carnivals exhibit the cultural and social values of the inhabitants and traders associated with the queen of hills. Mussoorie has been the point of attraction since the British Raj and we can still find the legacy left behind by the British. This place was the place where mostly British people lived before the independence of India.
If you want to see the whole Mussoorie with its cultural and social essence, it’s recommended to attend the carnivals. The carnivals are regularly organized on different occasions to remind the people about the importance of every aspect of our society and the human association with that.
