The state tourism department has started its tourism campaign for this winter with three major festivals to be held in Mussoorie, Tehri and Auli from November 2015 to February 2016. The Tehri carnival in November 2015, Mussoorie festival in December 2015 and Auli festival in February 2016 are to be held. The state tourism in particular GMVN is readying itself for the coming winter tourism. The state government has already announced the renovations of TRHs and identifying the best of staffs.
In continuous to this effort, the GMVN has already started identifying the performers and non-performers among the managers and staff from various GMVN rest houses for deploying them at better places for the development. There are around 101 TRHs of GMVN which provide lodging to the tourists. The effort to segregate better from non-performers is being done in order to enhance the revenue and reduce the losses due to negligence and inefficiency.
According to the higher officials of the GMVN, the department has taken the decision to reward the good performers at various locations of tourist rest houses. This measure is being taken in order to warn the no-performers by rewarding the good performers. The officers and the employees along the Chardham route shall be trained professionally to cater the tourists. Already 85 personnel have been trained and remaining would be trained soon.
The GMVN has decided to upgrade 21 TRHs in order to compete with the private hotels. The resorts which are not running in their full capacity shall be upgraded too. The GMVN has sought Rs.5 Crore for the activities related to up gradation and renovation. The Chief Minister has assured to provide the support.
