The departure of Kedarnath’s doli (6th May, 2016): The world renowned Kedarnath Doli has been departed from Ukhimath on 5th May, 2016 for Kedarnath Dham. The farewell of doli was done with traditional vedic chants and worshipping. The first halt (Padav) would be at Guptakashi and this whole journey till Kedarnath is done on foot.
On Thursday 5th May, the Lord Kedaranth ji was worshipped in the presence of the Rawal Bheema Shankar Ling and the principal priest Shiv Shankar Ling at Panch Kedar seat – Onkareshwar temple, Ukhimath. The doli was decorated by flowers and garlands. In the presence of a big crowd, the doli was taken out from the grabh griha to the temple complex. In Ukhimath, the event was celebrated by dancing on the music played by six Kumaon regiments and traditional dhol damau instruments. Now, the Lord Kedar shall remain in Kedarnath for next six months.
The other halts after Guptakashi are Phata, Gaurikund and finally Kedarnath. On 9th May, the kapat shall open with the arrival of the doli of Bhagwan Kedar. The 16 km trek from Gaurikund to Kedarnath has started preparing for the arrival of the pilgrims. The stopovers are Junglechatti, Bhimbali, Choti Lincholi, Lincholi, Rudra point, base camp and finally the Kedar matha. The local traders, shopkeepers and all other associates have readied themselves for the upcoming shrine opening and next 6 month’s Kedar Bhagwan’s pooja.
The Kapat of Badrinath shall open on 11th May this year. The preparation of the opening ceremony is in full swing. The main door and the other parts of the temple are being painted and washed. The saints are seen on the road walking to the sacred shrine of Badrinath. Traditionally, the devotees first go to Kedarnath ji and then Badrinath ji.
The whole Garhwal region is ready for the grand beginning of Char Dham shrines this year. The travelers and the pilgrims have booked the hotels in all the different Char Dham shrines in advance. This year, it is anticipated to have a big rush for all the Char Dhams of Uttarakhand.
