Tough treks in Uttarakhand (1st May, 2016): Uttarakhand is paradise for the trekkers. There are numerous trekking routes ranging from 1500 mtr. to 5000 mtr. The trekking routes are classified based on the grading: easy, moderate and hard or tough. All the tough trekking routes are very challenging in nature and need all the professional helps and supervision. It is strongly advised to make a thorough preparation before opting any tough trekking route in order to avoid any kind of problem on the trekking journey. The preparation for the tough trekking is totally different from easy ones. The temperature is very low and oxygen is in sparse. The temperature at night time dips below minus and the sleeping bags should be good enough to keep your body warm. The groups are normally kept small so to keep everything in order.

Gaumukh – Tapovan – Nandanvan trek:

This trek lies in the district – Uttarakashi of Uttarakhand. This trek is around 50 km and takes 6 days from Uttarakashi to Nandanvan and back to Uttarakashi. Roop kund:

This trek lies in the district – Chamoli of Uttarakhand. This trek ends at Roop kund, which is also called the mystery lake because of the remnants of human and horse skeletons are found surrounding here. The reason behind these remnants is an another story. The trek starts from Wan and another 30 km takes you to Roop kund lake. This trek is around 5 -6 days affair.  For more in detail….please click

Kagbhusandi lake:

This lake trek has a myth association that crows come here to die, thus giving the origin of the name – Kagbhusandi. The lake lies in the district – Chamoli of Uttarakhand. The trek begins from Govind ghat and ends at Kagbhusandi lak, which is around 32 km one way.  This trail is not popular as other many tough treks, so a very professional and local guidance is required.
