Traffic flow in Char Dham Uttarakhand (11th May, 2016): Every year with the opening of Char Dham of Uttarakhand, the pilgrims start visiting these Dhams. These Dhams are very popular since ancient times, when people used to visit these Dhams on foot. It was believed that visiting these Dhams was equivalent to get the salvation in this life. Every Hindu wished to visit these Dhams once in a life time in olden days and one should definitely visit these shrines in his / her life time. During the olden days, these Dhams were popular and find mention in Puranas.
After the construction of the motor roads, the traffic of pilgrims has also increased in all four Dhams. A recent figure shows that around 10,000 vehicles travel in Garhwal region every year for Char Dham. Due to recent catastrophe in 2013, the Char Dham pilgrimages had reduced to a very small scale, but now the scenario has changed this year and there is a heavy rush for Char Dham yatra. Till now, 26,235 pilgrims have been registered for Cahr Dham yatra. This figure has exceeded many times as compared to previous years’ figures. On Tuesday, 8371 pilgrims registered for Char Dham darshan.
In 2014, only 614 pilgrims got themselves registered for Char Dham yatra. In 2015, only 1,500 pilgrims had got themselves registered for Char Dham until the kapat opening. This year before the opening of Badrinath kapat, 26235 pilgrims have already registered for Char Dham yatra.
The pilgrims from all around the country and abroad have reached to different places in Uttarakhand and are very excited with the beginning of Char Dham opening. The kapats of Kedaranth, Gangotri and Yamunotri have already opened on 9th May, 2016. The kapat of Badrinath shall on on 11th May. The most number of tourists are coming from the states – Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, UP, Bihar, Assam, Kerala.
