Valley of Flowers trek obstructed (6th August, 2016): The trek to Valley of Flowers got obstructed on Thursday (4th August, 2016) due to land sliding for another few days as per sources. The landslide occurred at two and half kilometers from Ghangria. The forest department has closed the trek route until the mud and boulders are cleared.
As per the official reports from forest department, landslide has occurred at Banandhaund which has damaged a stretch of 300 mtrs. along the trek to Valley of Flowers. Due to the landslide, around 86 people had got stuck and the rescue has been made by SDRF and the forest department. As per the forest department sources, all the tourists are safe now.
As per the latest news, the trek shall be opened by the forest department within two days. The work is being done very quickly to open the trek to Valley of Flowers. We can anticipate the trek to open by Monday (8th August, 2016)
How to reach Valley of Flowers from Delhi:
Delhi to Rishikesh (by night train / bus)
1st day: Rishikesh to Joshimath (250 km motor road)
2nd day: Joshimath to Govindghat and Ghangria (20 km motor road and 15 km trek)
3rd day: Ghangria to Valley of Flowers and back (20 km*)
4th day: Ghangria to Joshimath
5th day: Joshimath to Rishikesh
You can take the night train or bus from Haridwar. The night buses are available from Rishikesh / Haridwar to Delhi, but for train one needs to catch from Haridwar.
*The valley of Flowers is 6 km long stretch, so one can enjoy either full trek or come back after few kms of trek. The distance from Ghangria to the starting point of Valley of Flowers is 4 km, so the total length for Valley of Flowers comes out to be 10 km.
